Very Happy Battlefield 3 - Help and Hardware Information Very Happy

I started this post to help keep everyone informed with upgrade and Hardware support information that will allow clan members to play BF3. BF3 is now only 4 months from being available (10/25/2011), so this should give most of our clan members time to select and purchase whatever hardware upgrades they may need!

Electronic Arts (EA.com) has no official minimum or recommended hardware specification, but officials there keep promoting users to use whatever it takes to play Bad Company 2 at reasonable resolutions and frame rates above 60+FPS. They have also posted an unofficial minimum and recommended settings which I also have adjusted and listed on this page.

BF3 uses an upgraded Frostbite 2.0 Engine, a new Destruction 3.0 Engine, hardware supported extreme Tessillisation and new 128 player maps. Between the new much larger 128 player maps, the Destruction 3.0 engine, Graphics Improvements, and the Tessillisation, I personally believe any hardware playing Bad Company 2 right now will see about a 20-35 FPS drop in performance with similar settings in BF3. Armed with this information I値l list which nVidia and AMD/ATI cards will play and at what general levels they are likely to play at. I知 only going to list cards that can currently play Bad Company 2 at least 60 FPS now on a mix of High and Medium settings as these cards are likely to play BF3 on the same settings and still maintain frame rates above 30 fps. Since frame rate can be subjective, I知 stating these frames as rates when a player in the game is actually in vehicles and fighting or is fighting with a large number infantry as these are the conditions on BC2 that create the lowest playable frame rates. I値l also recommend some processor upgrades for older Intel Socket 775 AMD AM2/AM3 motherboards as EA痴 minimum recommended processor hardware is dual cores! I値l only list a single Intel or AMD low cost high power dual core that will be capable of playing. The rest of the recommended CPU痴 listed will be quad cores.
